Hot Guac!

Healthy Recipe: Hot Guac!

Yummy!!!! We all love our avocados. Especially because they have the healthy monounsaturated fat that helps lower* our unhealthy cholesterol levels! So why not mix some avocados with other fresh ingredients to create a delicious dip to share with your friends and family?!

Ingredients:

2-4 Avocados (pitted and chopped into small pieces) (avocados are ready when they are soft to the touch)

2-4 Garlic cloves (minced)

1/2-1 Lime (squeeze juice from lime halves)

1 Green pepper (chopped)

1-4 Jalapeno peppers (chopped) (take the seeds out to lessen the heat)

1-2 Tomatoes (10-20 cherry tomatoes)

Fresh cilantro (or dry freezed)

Fresh cracked pepper and sea salt to taste

Directions:

Chop avocados, tomatoes, garlic, green pepper, and jalapenos and mix together (I use my pampered  chef chopper, works great and quick… Just a pain to clean).

Squeeze lime half into guac mix, if making a larger batch squeeze whole lime.

Add the cilantro. Just take a bundle and chop it into small pieces or sprinkle some dried cilantro into the guac.

Leave the avocado pits in the guacamole mixture, this helps keep it fresh and keep it’s green color (so does the lime).

Salt and pepper to taste.

Serve with whole grain or baked tortilla chips. I ate some hot guac with some radishes and that was really yummy too!

Let’s Be Robust!

*Don’t forget that too much of a healthier fat (unsaturated fats, fats that are liquid at room temp) has the same effect as too much of a less healthy fat (saturated fats, fats that are solid at room temp).

So be nice to your heart and eat the healthy fat (just not too much of it)! 🙂
